Looking ahead to my next few months of travel, I’ve got a busy schedule of a whole bunch of great digital nomad events and conferences coming up. If you’re considering making a trip, you might consider one of the below. Or, stay tuned for a summary of each of them after I’ve attended… and then mark your calendar for next year!
Digital Nomad Conferences and Events – Summer/Autumn 2018
FreedomXFest – 14-19 August, 2018: Pyrenees, Spain
I’m really excited for this one! It’s a digital nomad/location independence conference, set in a remote village in the Spanish Pyrenees, with a dose of festival vibes. I’m really honoured to be speaking at, as well as attending this event.
I can see this becoming a yearly must-attend event for digital nomads worldwide. What a great excuse to get together with your tribe to learn, network, and celebrate the summer and the benefits of this lifestyle.
Check out the schedule for a taste of what’s planned. I’ll be speaking on digital nomad tax issues on Thursday, and attending as many other workshops and talks as possible for the rest of the week.
Nomad Summit Las Vegas – 31 August -3 September, 2018: Las Vegas, USA
I have the honour of speaking at this event as well. If you’re not already familiar with Johnny FD, he’s one of the most prominent digital nomads and founder of the hugely popular and influential Travel Like A Boss podcast and blogger at JohnnyFD.com. He also puts on the OG digital nomad event, Nomad Summit Chiang Mai, which will be in its 5th year in January.
This year is the first time he’s brought Nomad Summit to the USA, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. It’s being held over Labour Day weekend in Vegas, so North American-based attendees can take advantage of the 3 day weekend.
My talk here will be focussed on US tax, which is my area of expertise, and will hopefully be of use to the predominately US audience. I’m really looking forward to this event and will do a write-up of the experience when I get back!
Nomad Train – 12-26 September, 2018: Russia & Mongolia
This event isn’t a conference, but rather a travel/coworking experience run by a fantastic entrepreneur, Maria Sirotkina, who I met in Las Palmas last year. It’s a 2 week train journey along the Trans-Siberian Express, from Moscow to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The trip is organised by nomads, for nomads, so there are coworking locations scouted out along the way, and we’ll be stopping for a few days at each stop so we’ll have a chance to explore, and to get some work done.
I’ve never been to Russia, or Mongolia, or taken a long-haul train journey before, so this should be an exciting adventure!
Nomad City Gran Canaria – 8-14 October, 2018: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
I was honoured to attend, and speak at, this event last year, and I’m thrilled to be returning this year! Las Palmas is a fantastic nomad hub in Europe, and the amazing team that put this event on are world-class.
I’ll be speaking on digital nomad tax issues here, along with a host of really impressive speakers! I highly recommend adding this event to your calendar. Las Palmas has perfect weather year-round, and the event last year was fun, informative, and full of great people. Get your tickets and come join the fun!
*Events I’m not attending this year… but wish I could!
*DNX Portugal – 22-23 September, 2018: Lisbon, Portugal
*7in7 – 16-23 October, 2018: Medellin, Colombia
These both look like they’ll be terrific events, so if your schedule allows, consider getting in on the fun.
I’m so grateful to be a part of these events and I’m continually blown away by the growing number of offerings catering to our community. It’s one I’m proud to be a part of, and I hope to see you sometime/somewhere around the world!
